Oh my I have a family

Friends are God's way of apologising to us for our family
- Judith Lucy

Family is a strange concept, at least to me, and I come from what would be largely seen as a 'regular' family.  But family can mean so many things .  Family can be the people you are blood related too and/or the people you grew up with.  It can be the people you share a name with or the family you 'marry' into.  It can also, more often than not, be the people you don't share DNA, last names, childhood with.

When the Mr and I met we had far too many drinks one night and after swearing that we would never succumb and have children (that worked!) we also swore we would always be each others family.  Then we got clucky and along came cyclone Chloe, our baby now our big girl, our force of nature.  I hate odd numbers and after a fair few years we are now expecting Summer, our new baby, our number four.

I, the girl who was never going to be in a relationship longer than three months, was never going to be a stay at home mum and was never going to be a mum (I actually was told I couldn't be) and was most certainly never going to live in the country......I now find myself with my very own family.  I also find myself having been with the Mr for six and a half years, I have been a stay at home mum for five years, expecting my second daughter and I love in a country town with a whole bunch of lunatic pets.

Needless to say when Chloe comes out with family portraits (I'm the one with the baby in my belly) it kinda freaks me out to think where that single loving, champers swilling, high hell wearing girls has gone.  But it also makes me really grateful for what I have........go figure!
